This week has been very exciting, with a refreshingly frank chairman, a pundit wacking at the trunk of the virtual real estate tree, and Tony taking note.
When I'm working late on something or other and feeling the burn, it's events like these that renew my belief that I'm on the right track.

First we could hear people who weren't here. Then we could talk with people who weren't here. Then we could see people who weren't here. Then we could do all of these things with absolutely anyone who wasn't here. And now we can see people who not only aren't here but to people where there isn't even a there.
Radio, telephones, television, internet, avatars... next I suppose we'll see without eyes the people who aren't here in the non-existent there.

Check out the Boulder Colorado photo map I whipped up with photos by new Boulder resident, Lise Mantha. It is really hard not dropping everything and fixing 93 Photo Street's jaggy image scaling and switching out google maps for my home spun maps, but some projects must sit on the back burner while I work on Transmutable's first service built on Ogoglio.

Lest you think the Taiwanese betel nut beauty phenomenon is unique and regional, read about Washington State's sexpresso stands.

When I arrived at the Hertz rental lot to pick up a car the desk folks claimed that there is a nationwide failure of the Hertz network and that they are being told that it will be three days before they have access to the reservation system.
If this is true, I cannot imagine the level of social chaos that is breaking loose in the Hertz IT organization.

In this screencast I show a few things that only metaverse geeks would find interesting, like a shared MP3 jukebox with an HTML track display, so don't say I didn't warn you. Also, I sound like a man who spent half the night entertaining a teething baby. I usually don't sound like Richmond from The IT Crowd. Really.
