Seven years ago, through the grief and anger, I felt ignorance. Who? Why? How?
So I became a student of international events and history. Though I still feel ignorant, I can now recognize the major moving parts in our system of international conflict and they are as ancient as they are intricate. Each of us has the responsibility to look with open eyes and hearts at the causes of the attacks seven years ago (and the hundreds of thousands of international attacks before and since) and take action to change humanity into something better which doesn't foster such desperation. Not only can we honor the dead through understanding and change, we can honor the next generations by creating a world where struggle does not lead to violence.
