Pay attention to your emotions while you watch that video and then come back.
I'll wait.
When I watch that video I'm acutely aware that large portions of my brain are completely convinced of the reality of the scenes. Despite the fantastic themes and the repeated revelation that parts are completely fabricated, all of my visual cortex and a goodly portion of the rest of my brain agree that the artifice is actual.
So, what happens when I can buy a pair of glasses which do this sort of compositing in real time. As an urbanity nerd, I'd love to be able to edit out parking structures and referb rundown classic edifices. And people could use a little editing, right? Thin them down, cute them up.
And at most levels I'll believe it. And so will you.
Have fun watching "Avatar" this weekend.
